I’ve been in a home game for over 25 years. There’s a $50 buy-in and rebuys can occur when your chip stack is less than $10. The other night, the host asked me if I’d like more chips and I replied, “No, I like playing short-stacked.” I started thinking about why. Of course, one doesn’t like getting into that position in the first place but for me, the answer was pretty simple; it’s much easier to double up. When you finally get a premium hand, it is disguised by your betting limit/stack size, sometimes resulting in more callers than usual when you go all in. And, that’ what happened two hands later. In fact I tripled up, thanks to a legitimate caller and two very loose players. Keep that in mind before you rebuy.
