Losing Streaks

Wrapping up 2016, Texas Dolly said it was his first losing year in 15.  My first thought was wow!  And then a couple of things popped into my mind.  He obviously keeps track of his wins and losses.  Do you?  If not, you should.  Then I wondered about losing streaks.  I’ve started the year poorly.  In fact, I’m at five losses in a row (which is unusual for me).  What the heck is going on?  OK, card dead is an easy answer, but it can’t be the only one.  Tougher game? I don’t think that’s the answer.  Am I playing differently?  Not that I’m aware of, but it’s clearly time for introspection.  Has anything changed?  Aha!  I’m playing in higher stakes games.  Further analysis has led me to this…the amounts I’ve won in individual hands has not changed incrementally.  However, my losing hands have been “more expensive.”  That has led to the negative outcome.  Now, I’ve got to figure out how to adjust my play.
